FENCING, LANDSCAPING, TREE PLANTING, & IRRIGATION
Waterline easements must be kept clear. Please be careful not to fence in any Company appurtenances (meters, valves, main water lines, etc.). Any obstructions can hamper our ability to access or repair our equipment.
FENCING
It is company policy to require a minimum of five (5) feet between fencing and the main waterline. The location of the waterline is made apparent by the Bluestake marks. Company policy also sets the minimum distance of four (4) feet from the edge of the water meter lid to any fencing. The fencing setbacks prescribed benefit both the water company and the customer by ensuring adequate space to repair and maintain infrastructure and lessen the chances of damage to a customer’s fence.
LANDSCAPING & TREE PLANTING
Grading, irrigation, planting sod, etc. can severely impede repairs and emergency accessibility, plus present a hazard for the repairmen. Please keep in mind that as trees and shrubbery mature, their root systems can raise havoc with the mainline and other appurtenances. Please maintain a minimum distance of ten (10) to fifteen (15) feet back from the easement with all trees and deep-rooted shrubs.

C. Easements and rights-of-way
1. Each customer shall grant adequate easement and right-of-way satisfactory to the utility to ensure that customer's proper service connection. Failure on the part of the customer to grant adequate easement and right-of-way shall be grounds for the utility to refuse service.
2. When a utility discovers that a customer or his agent is performing work or has constructed facilities adjacent to or within an easement or right-of-way and such work, construction or facility poses a hazard or is in violation of federal, state or local laws, ordinances, statutes, rules or regulations, or significantly interferes with the utility's access to equipment, the utility shall notify the customer or his agent and shall take whatever actions are necessary to eliminate the hazard, obstruction or violation at the customer's expense.
